Living on your own requires you to be independent (itsenäinen) and to manage (pärjätä) by yourself.

Reflexive Pronouns
When the subject and object are the same person, Finnish uses the reflexive pronoun itse. Attach a possessive suffix to specify who it refers to.

Third-Person Reflexives
Both hän (he/she) and he (they) use the suffix -nsä, so itsensä translates to both "himself/herself" and "themselves".

| They reward themselves when the work is ready. | He palkitsevat itsensä, kun työ on valmis. |
