Expressing "Despite" with "huolimatta"
To say that an action continues "despite" or "in spite of" an obstacle, use the postposition huolimatta. Just like johtuen from the previous lesson, huolimatta requires the noun before it to be in the elative case (-sta or -stä).

Plurals and Modifiers
When talking about multiple obstacles, such as difficulties (vaikeudet) or setbacks (vastoinkäymiset), use the plural elative ending (-ista or -istä).
