Questions & Answers about Poduzetnik je ostvario svoj plan zahvaljujući investiciji.
Why is investiciji in the Dative case here?
It is triggered by the preposition zahvaljujući (thanks to). This preposition always requires the Dative case to express the positive cause or reason for a successful outcome.
Why use svoj instead of njegov for "his"?
Svoj is the reflexive possessive pronoun, which must be used here because the plan belongs to the subject of the sentence (the entrepreneur). If you used njegov plan, it would imply that he achieved some other man's plan.
Can I use ostvariti when I want to say I "realized" or noticed a mistake?
No, ostvariti only means "to realize" in the sense of making something a reality, achieving, or accomplishing it. If you mean "to realize" as in to suddenly understand or notice a fact, you should use a verb like shvatiti.
What case is svoj plan and why doesn't it have a distinct ending?
It is in the Accusative case because it is the direct object of the verb. Because plan is a masculine inanimate noun, its Accusative form is identical to its Nominative form.
