On Saturdays
To say something happens REGULARLY on a day, Croatian puts the day in the instrumental — no preposition at all: | day | habitually | | --- | --- | | subota | subotom (on Saturdays) | | nedjelja | nedjeljom (on Sundays) | | petak | petkom (on Fridays) |
| On Saturdays I don't work. | Subotom ne radim. |
One time vs every time
For a single occasion, use u + accusative: u subotu (this Saturday). The instrumental means every such day:
| On Sundays we go to church. | Nedjeljom idemo u crkvu. |
This is the instrumental case you learned for tools and company, doing one more job — marking repeated time.
