ma — come on
ma opens a sentence to wave something away: Ma daj, to nije istina! With nemoj or a noun it dismisses, with an adjective it amplifies: Ma krasno! (Just great! — often ironic.)
The devil in the language
vrag is the devil, and Croatian keeps him busy: Koji vrag se ovdje događa? (What the devil is going on here?) dovraga is damn it: Dovraga, opet sam zaboravio ključeve! prokleti is to curse — and its participle proklet is damned: Prokleti auto opet ne radi!
These are mild by Croatian standards — television language, not true vulgarity — but keep them for friends, not for Poštovani letters.
