To describe how one thing functions as or is functionally equivalent to another ("serving as" or "tantamount to"), Arabic uses the phrase **بمثابة**.

{{item:1161877}}

It typically sits between the subject and the noun it is being compared to, acting as the predicate in a nominal sentence.

{{item:1161878}}

{{item:1161880}}

Grammatically, **بمثابة** is always followed by a noun in the genitive case (مجرور). This structure is perfect for functional comparisons or metaphors, especially when describing complex digital systems.

{{item:1161884}}

Notice how the phrase neatly connects an abstract technical concept—like an algorithm or a router—to a relatable physical concept.
