Plural Possessive Pronouns
In Arabic, possession is shown by attaching a suffix directly to the end of a noun. Just as you learned with singular pronouns (my, your, his, her), you can attach plural possessive pronouns to express "our", "your (plural)", and "their".
Before attaching a pronoun, remember an important spelling rule for feminine nouns: if a noun ends in a ة (taa marbuta), it opens up into a regular ت (taa). For example, عائلة (family) becomes عائلتـ before adding the suffix.
"Our" with ـنا
To say "our", attach the suffix ـنا to the noun. Notice how the ة in عائلة (family) and شقة (apartment) changes when the suffix is added.
For masculine words like مطبخ (kitchen), the suffix attaches without any changes.
"Your (plural)" with ـكم
When speaking directly to a group and referring to something that belongs to them ("your"), attach the suffix ـكم.
"Their" with ـهم
To talk about something belonging to a group of people ("their"), use the suffix ـهم.
Describing Shared Spaces
Now you can combine these plural possessive pronouns with spatial words like أمام (in front of) to describe the layout of a home.
