This Elon-authored announcement is entirely fictional: the workshop, date, venue, page, organizers, and schedule change were created for language practice. It models a live announcement to a neighborhood audience, not a notice for a real event.
The delivery uses prepared Lebanese (public, careful) with formal-contact nouns such as تنبيه، مقرر، صيانة، تسجيل، تأكيد. Those nouns add institutional clarity, while the grammar remains Lebanese: اللي، رح، عالخمسة، ما في، فيكن، منطلب.

The announcement's information architecture
| Move | Words | Listener's question answered |
|---|---|---|
| Attention | تنبيه لأهالي الحي | Is this message for me? |
| Change | تغير موعد... | What changed? |
| Identification | اللي كانت مقررة... | Which workshop? |
| Old/new contrast | عالخمسة بدل التلاتة | What is the replacement time? |
| Reason/result | السبب... ولهيك... | Why, and what follows from it? |
| Continuity | بنفس المكان / ما في تغيير | What stays the same? |
| Directive | منطلب... يوصلوا ويجيبوا | What should attendees do? |
| Alternative | إذا... فيكن... | What if the new time does not work? |
| Repeat | منعيد... | What are the three details to remember? |
The order is functional. Giving the maintenance reason before identifying the changed event would force listeners to hold an unexplained detail in memory. Giving the old and new times in separate distant sentences would invite reversal.
Attention without ceremony
تنبيه لأهالي الحي is a concise prepared opening. It is more public than يا جماعة، اسمعوا شوي (informal) but less ceremonious than يرجى من السادة الحضور الانتباه (formal, MSA). The audience phrase matters: it selects neighborhood residents rather than pretending the notice addresses everyone.
The headline-like first line uses the perfect تغير because the schedule change is already settled at the moment of announcing. The later رح تبلش and رح يفتح project the replacement schedule.
Date and time: redundant on purpose
Lebanese dates put day before month: أربعتعش تشرين التاني. The weekday السبت provides another retrieval cue. Clock times use عـ: عالأربعة ونص، عالخمسة. The directive uses relative time instead: قبل البداية بربع ساعة. The dates guide contrasts this order with ambiguous numeric formats.
The final repetition is not filler. In speech, a listener may have missed the first date while identifying the event or may be unable to replay the message. The compressed repeat keeps only date, door time, and start time.
الموعد الجديد الخميس تسعتعش آذار، الدخول عالستة، والبداية عالستة ونص.
el-mawʿed el-zhdīd el-khamīs tisaʿtaʿash Āzār, ed-dkhūl ʿas-sitte, wil-bidēye ʿas-sitte w-noṣṣ.
The new date is Thursday, March nineteenth; entry at six; start at six thirty. (fictional concise repeat)
Reason and result are separately marked
السبب هو شغل صيانة بالقاعة names the cause as a noun phrase. ولهيك then marks the practical result: the door opens later. The sentence does not stack بسبب and لأنو around the same clause.
An alternative is a single causal clause:
لأنو في شغل صيانة بالقاعة، رح تتأخر البداية ساعتين.
la-anno fī shoghol ṣiyēne bil-ʾāʿa, raḥ titʾakhkhar el-bidēye sēʿtēn.
Because there is maintenance work in the hall, the start will be delayed by two hours. (fictional reason clause)
The choice is rhetorical: السبب هو... ولهيك... makes two short breath groups suited to a loudspeaker; لأنو... packages the same relation into one sentence.
Directives that preserve cooperation
منطلب من كل المسجلين... is a first-person plural request frame. It identifies the institution as requester and takes bare plural imperfects يوصلوا، يجيبوا. A bare وصلوا وجيبوا would be grammatical but more direct; يرجى الحضور would move toward an impersonal written-MSA notice.
The conditional إذا الوقت الجديد ما بناسبكن acknowledges that the change has costs. فيكن تتواصلوا gives a next step without inventing a phone number or contact account.
Prepared Lebanese versus a written MSA notice
The spoken version is built for breath groups, repetition, and direct audience uptake. A written institutional notice could begin:
إشعار: تم تعديل موعد الورشة المقررة يوم السبت.
ishʿārun: tamma taʿdīlu mawʿidi l-warshati l-muqarrarati yawma s-sabt.
Notice: the time of the workshop scheduled for Saturday has been changed. (formal, MSA written notice)
This is not the Lebanese line with a few words replaced. It uses تم تعديل، المقررة، يوم and formal inflection. Conversely, the main announcement uses Lebanese اللي كانت مقررة، نهار، رح تبلش. Either system can be appropriate; an internally coherent choice serves the medium better than random alternation.
Follow-up transformation task
Change the fictional workshop from Saturday at five to Sunday at eleven in the morning. Begin with the identification-plus-replacement line:
النشاط اللي كان مقرر نهار السبت رح يصير الأحد عالحدعش قبل الضهر.
en-nashāṭ ille kēn muʾarrar nhār es-sabet raḥ yṣīr el-aḥad ʿal-ḥdaʿash ʾabel eḍ-ḍohor.
The activity scheduled for Saturday will take place Sunday at eleven in the morning. (fictional transformed schedule)
Then add a reason with لأنو, one directive with منطلب من..., and a three-part repeat. Do not add a contact detail unless the fictional exercise explicitly supplies one.
What this announcement recycles
- Definite relative اللي كانت مقررة to identify the affected event.
- Lebanese day–month order and clock time with عـ.
- رح + bare imperfect for the replacement schedule.
- Reason لأنو or السبب..., result لهيك.
- Polite institutional request منطلب من... + bare imperfect.
- Conditional إذا plus ability فيكن.
- Nominal location and continuity statements without a present copula.
- Parallel concise repetition for public delivery.
Common Mistakes
Stacking two future markers
❌ سوف رح تبلش الورشة عالخمسة.
Incorrect — formal سوف and Lebanese رح do not stack into one future frame.
✅ رح تبلش الورشة عالخمسة والباب بيفتح قبل بنص ساعة.
raḥ tballish el-warshe ʿal-khamse wil-bēb byiftaḥ ʾabel b-noṣṣ sēʿa.
The workshop will start at five, and the door opens half an hour earlier. (fictional schedule)
Reversing the Lebanese date order
❌ تشرين التاني أربعتعش هو تاريخ الورشة.
Incorrect English-influenced ordering for the Lebanese production baseline — the day precedes the month.
✅ تاريخ الورشة أربعتعش تشرين التاني.
tērīkh el-warshe arbaʿtaʿash Tishrīn et-tēne.
The workshop date is November fourteenth. (fictional date)
Giving two times without marking the replacement
❌ الورشة عالخمسة عالتلاتة.
Incorrect schedule update — two unlinked times do not identify which one replaces the other.
✅ الموعد الجديد عالخمسة بدل التلاتة.
el-mawʿed el-zhdīd ʿal-khamse badal et-tlēte.
The new time is five instead of three.
Losing plural agreement in the directive
❌ منطلب من المسجلين يوصل قبل الموعد.
Incorrect agreement — plural المسجلين requires plural يوصلوا.
✅ منطلب من المسجلين يوصلوا قبل البداية بعشر دقايق.
mniṭlob min el-msazhzhalīn yōṣalo ʾabel el-bidēye b-ʿashar dʾāyeʾ.
We ask registered attendees to arrive ten minutes before the start.
Key Takeaways
A successful schedule-change announcement identifies its audience, names the affected event, contrasts new time with old, gives a bounded reason, states what remains unchanged, and offers a next step. Prepared Lebanese can carry institutional vocabulary without becoming MSA. Dates use day–month order; clock times use عـ; رح selects a bare imperfect. Repeat the smallest set of details listeners must retain, and never invent contact information to make a fictional notice look real.
