TOEFL Academic Vocabulary

This course drills TOEFL's academic vocabulary layer: the subject vocabulary its reading passages and lectures are built from, the Academic Word List, and the collocations and transitions of academic prose. Nearly 1,300 exercises across 13 lessons, each with audio and an example sentence, scheduled by spaced repetition so a word comes back just before you would forget it.

How the lessons map to the exam: the eight subject lessons (Life Sciences, Earth Sciences, Physical Sciences, History, Arts & Literature, Social Sciences, Business & Economics, Technology) cover the domains TOEFL passages are drawn from. Core Academic Words is built on the Academic Word List that runs through every discipline, Academic Collocations & Phrases, Synonyms & Paraphrasing and Transitions & Academic Discourse train the paraphrase-heavy question style, and the final fill-in-the-blank lesson puts the vocabulary back into full academic sentences.

To be straight about scope: nobody here scores your speaking or writing tasks — this course makes the vocabulary automatic so the timed sections stop costing you decoding time. Reviews first on any day you study, then new material.
