Plural adjectives (-a)

Adjectives with Plural Subjects

When describing multiple people or things, the adjective must change to match. For plural subjects like vi (we), ni (you plural), or de (they), simply add an -a to the end of the base adjective.

For example, glad (happy) becomes glada, and snabb (fast) becomes snabba.

We are happy today.
Vi är glada idag.
They are always fast.
De är alltid snabba.

Describing Multiple Traits

If you use more than one adjective in a sentence, every adjective describing the plural subject takes the -a ending.

You are often tired.
Ni är ofta trötta.
They are big and heavy.
De är stora och tunga.

Together

You will often see plural subjects paired with tillsammans (together). Because it is an adverb and not an adjective, it never changes form.

We are working together today.
Vi jobbar tillsammans idag.
We are always happy together.
Vi är alltid glada tillsammans.
