Questions & Answers about Я никогда не приглашаю этого скучного человека.
Why do этого and скучного end in -ого here?
Because they describe человека (person), which is an animate masculine noun acting as the direct object of the verb. In the Accusative case, animate masculine nouns and their modifiers borrow their forms from the Genitive case. So, the base words этот and скучный change to their Genitive-looking forms: этого and скучного.
How do I pronounce the -ого endings on этого and скучного?
The letter г in the grammatical endings -ого and -его is always pronounced like an English "v". Therefore, этого is pronounced like "EH-tah-vah" and скучного ends with "-nah-vah".
Wait, is the ч in скучного pronounced normally?
Actually, no! In Russian, the letter combination чн is traditionally pronounced as "shn" (шн) in a handful of common words. The adjective скучный (boring) and its forms are classic examples where you will hear a "shn" sound instead of "chn".
Why does the sentence use both никогда (never) and не (not)?
