The Case File
B1 taught the street level — убийца (the murderer), поймать (to catch). This lesson moves to the case file: the crime as a noun, the accusation as a document, the people whose job the case is.

Verbs Under Interrogation
Стрелять (в кого? во что?) is to shoot — imperfective, the activity. Лгать is to lie with words; its perfective is солгать. Признать is to admit — вину, ошибку, поражение — and with признаться the admission turns on the speaker.
Он стрелял в воздух. — He fired into the air. Свидетель лгал суду. — The witness was lying to the court. Он признал свою ошибку. — He admitted his mistake.

Связать is literally to tie (руки, верёвку) and figuratively to connect: связать факты — to connect the facts. The investigator does both in one shift.
