### Past Participle Agreement with "Ne"

You already know that the partitive pronoun **ne** can be used to say "some" or "of them" when specifying a quantity.

Usually, in the *passato prossimo*, verbs that use the auxiliary **avere** do not change their past participle endings. However, when you use **ne** to express a quantity, a special rule applies: the past participle **must** agree in gender and number with the noun that **ne** is replacing.

For example, if you are talking about *i bicchieri* (masculine plural) and you pack twenty of them, the participle *imballato* changes its ending to **-i** (*imballati*):
