Questions & Answers about Dziękuję za pomoc.
A natural approximation for an English speaker is:
jen-KOO-yeh za POH-mots
A few details:
- Dzię- starts with a very soft dź sound, something like the j in jeans, but softer.
- -kuję sounds roughly like KOO-yeh.
- ę in dziękuję is often not pronounced as a full nasal vowel in normal speech. Before k, it sounds close to en/em.
- pomoc is pronounced roughly POH-mots, with c sounding like ts.
The stress is on the second-to-last syllable in dziękuję:
dzię-KU-ję
Dziękuję is the 1st person singular form of the verb dziękować, so grammatically it means I thank.
Polish often leaves out the subject pronoun when it is already clear from the verb form, so:
- Dziękuję = I thank / thank you
You do not need to say Ja dziękuję unless you want extra emphasis.
