En inglés se distingue más:
- ceiling = el techo por dentro, la superficie interior de la parte de arriba de un cuarto o edificio.
- Ej.: The ceiling in the old hospital is very high.
- roof = el techo por fuera, la parte exterior que cubre el edificio.
- Ej.: The roof of the hospital is red.
En español de América muchas veces usamos techo para ambos, pero en inglés debes elegir entre ceiling (interior) y roof (exterior).
¿Por qué se usa in the old hospital y no at the old hospital?
Se usa in porque se habla de algo que está dentro del hospital (el techo interno).
