When you are making a bucket list or planning future travel, you might not have all the details figured out. In German, you can attach the prefix irgend- (some / any) to question words to create indefinite adverbs.
Irgendwann (Sometime / Someday)
Combine irgend- with wann (when) to talk about an undefined point in time.
| We will experience this adventure at some point. | Wir werden dieses Abenteuer irgendwann erleben. |
| I will travel spontaneously to Italy sometime. | Ich werde irgendwann spontan nach Italien reisen. |
Irgendwo (Somewhere)
Combine irgend- with wo (where) when you haven't picked an exact location.
| We will live somewhere on this continent. | Wir werden irgendwo auf diesem Kontinent leben. |
| The camper is parked somewhere in the dark forest. | Das Wohnmobil steht irgendwo im dunklen Wald. |
Irgendwie (Somehow)
Combine irgend- with wie (how) when the method or logistics are undecided.
| He will finance the new camper somehow. | Er wird das neue Wohnmobil irgendwie finanzieren. |
| I have to finance this expensive adventure somehow. | Ich muss dieses teure Abenteuer irgendwie finanzieren. |
You can even combine these adverbs in a single sentence:
| Someday I would like to live somewhere by the sea. | Irgendwann möchte ich irgendwo am Meer wohnen. |
