Questions & Answers about Yhteisö auttaa jokaista vastaanottajaa.
Why does the word jokainen become jokaista in this sentence?
The verb auttaa (to help) always requires its object to be in the partitive case. Because jokainen acts as an adjective here modifying vastaanottajaa, it must match the noun's case. The partitive form of jokainen is jokaista.
How do you form the partitive vastaanottajaa from the base dictionary word?
The dictionary form is vastaanottaja (recipient). Because it ends in a short vowel, you simply add an extra -a to the end to make it partitive, resulting in vastaanottajaa.
What is the difference between using jokaista and kaikkia for this sentence?
While both are similar, jokaista translates to 'every' or 'each', focusing on the individuals separately. If you used kaikkia (the partitive of kaikki, meaning 'all'), it would group the recipients together as a whole. This sentence emphasizes that every single individual gets help.
How is the noun vastaanottaja constructed?
It comes from the compound verb vastaanottaa (to receive), which is made of vastaan (against / towards) and ottaa (to take). The -ja suffix turns the verb into a noun for a person doing the action, making a receiver or recipient.
