Uključila je televizor i sjela.

Questions & Answers about Uključila je televizor i sjela.

Why is there no auxiliary verb "je" before or after "sjela"?
In Croatian, when you have a sequence of past tense verbs with the same subject, you only need to use the auxiliary verb (je) once. It acts as the helper for both uključila and sjela. Repeating it by saying "...i sjela je" would sound unnatural.
How do we know the subject is "she" if the pronoun "ona" is missing?
The gender is built into the past tense verbs. Both uključila and sjela end in -a, which is the feminine singular ending for the past tense participle. If the subject were "he", the verbs would end in -o (Uključio je televizor i sjeo).
"Televizor" is the direct object receiving the action. Why doesn't its ending change for the accusative case?
It actually is in the accusative case! Because televizor is a masculine inanimate noun (a non-living object), its accusative form is identical to its nominative form. It only gets an -a ending in the accusative if it is a living being.
Why are the perfective verbs "uključiti" and "sjesti" used here instead of their imperfective partners?
These are completed, single events that happen one after the other. When you want to describe a consecutive chain of finished actions in the past (first she did A, then she did B), you use perfective verbs.
