Questions & Answers about Poštujem vašu odluku.
Why is it vašu instead of vaša or vaš?
Vašu is the accusative feminine singular form of the possessive determiner vaš (your). It has to match the noun it describes, odluku, which is in the accusative case because it is the direct object of the verb poštujem (I respect). Since the base noun odluka is feminine, we use the feminine accusative ending -u for both words.
The dictionary says the word for decision is odluka. Why does it end in -u here?
Just like the possessive word vašu, the noun odluka changes its ending to show its role in the sentence. It is the direct object (the thing being respected), so it must take the accusative case. For feminine nouns ending in -a, the accusative ending is -u.
Why is there no word for I before poštujem?
In Croatian, you usually drop subject pronouns like ja (I) because the verb ending already tells you who is doing the action. The -m ending on poštujem clearly means I respect, so adding ja is only done if you want to add special emphasis.
Does vašu mean your as in plural (you all) or formal (you sir/ma'am)?
