Thai speakers manage turns through completed predicates, particles, intonation, gaze, pauses, and short floor-management expressions. ครับ/ค่ะ can acknowledge or close a unit, นะครับ/นะคะ seeks alignment, and unfinished clause material signals that more is coming. No particle mechanically means “my turn is over.”
The rhythm of these boundaries is developed further under polite-particle rhythm.
Completion and continuation cues
A completed proposition plus a falling contour often makes transition relevant. A linker, a held vowel, or คือ... can project continuation. Polite particles mark interactional boundaries, but speakers can continue after them with a new unit.

The first ครับ completes a report without preventing continuation. It helps the listener process a boundary; grammar and intonation still show whether the speaker has more to add.

Holding, entering, and yielding
To hold the floor during a search, speakers use คือ..., เอ่อ..., or a partial construction whose complement has not arrived. เอ่อ is a hesitation sound, not a polished formal linker.

นะ asks the listener to align with continuation; ครับ displays polite stance; ขออนุญาต explicitly recognizes control of the floor. Stacking all possible material is not automatically more natural.
What intonation changes
A falling contour after a complete report encourages transition. A level or continuing contour after คือ or a list item signals more to come. A sharp, loud เดี๋ยว can stop another speaker; a softer lengthened form can request a brief hold. Intonation adjusts urgency and floor claim, but does not turn an unfinished syntax into a completed proposition.
Silence after a possible completion may mean the listener is allowing continuation, processing, or declining the floor. It is not proof of agreement. The speaker can check: มีใครอยากเสริมไหมครับ.
